Photographer Overview
My goal is to photograph your baby and family with joy, creativity,
love, and patience. I believe that the most beautiful photographs come
from capturing the real moments, so I love the babies who come to me
for newborn photos to go through an asleep and an awake cycle, so your
resulting photographs show the peacefulness of their sleep as well as
their little selves as they are developing their personalities, by
looking in their eyes and photographing their expressions. Recording
new relationships is also key, so moms, dads, siblings and grandparents
are always welcome to be with the babies in your photographs.
People ask me if I only photograph newborns and special needs children.
Where that is my niche, I love, love, love to watch my customers'
families grow, so I welcome older babies, children, families, extended
families, and seniors.
With 16 years of experience as a newborn photographer, you could refer
to me as the Grandma Photographer, and now, I am a real Grandma too! I
received my M.A. in Library Science in 1983 from UW-Madison, and loved
being a reference librarian until my first baby, Elizabeth, was born in
1987. With such a beautiful subject, I took the first of a thousand
rolls of film. New joy came into our lives when Anna, Sarah, and
Samuel were born in '89, '91, and '94. I was a stay-at-home mom for
ten years, recording moments and memories on film just for my family.
I began giving a gift to my friends as they had new babies--I'd take a
roll of black and white film of their babies while they were still in
the hospital, and gave the photographs to them. This was so much fun
that I decided to create my own business. In those days I solely
photographed babies in the comfort of their homes, with black and white
film and natural light. Soon I established a studio in my home. My
business has "grown up" since then, as has my family. In November, I
received the greatest blessing of my life when I was able to photograph
my first dear grandson, Arlo. I try my hardest to live out my
priorities to God and my family, while serving my customers and my
community.
